To IS Foundation: A plea on behalf of all animals in India.

Hi,

my name is Hannah, and I'm an enthusiastic animal rights advocate. I came upon IS Foundation through twitter, and immediately visited the site. I would like to extend my deep appreciation for everything you guys have achieved and strive to do. I believe in your efforts so strongly that I've set up a monthly $10 donation towards Ian's dream sanctuary :)

I come from India, a land of incredible beauty as well as tragedy, both when it comes to human and animal rights. Therefore, what especially struck me when I visited your website was the featured quote from the 'Father of our nation' Mahatma Gandhi- 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated'. I'm writing to you because while I firmly endorse this philosophy, many of my fellow countrymen do not.

India, being a developing nation, has very little time or patience for animal welfare, especially when a large chunk of the country has little or no access to basic human rights. As a result, animal welfare organisations and the efforts of individuals here are continually thwarted. I myself have faced much opposition when trying to feed stray dogs.

I have some principal objectives:
1. Conducting vaccinations and sterilizations of stray dogs (the unchecked stray dog population is a huge problem in India)
2. Providing emergency ambulance services for injured/sick animals
3. Creating safe 'feed zones' for strays
4. Educating the general population about Animal Rights

While there are numerous animal welfare organisations that have done commendable work, I believe there's never enough we can do. With your help, I'd like to do all I can.

I can't be absolutely sure, but I don't think there is an IS Foundation leg in India. If indeed there isn't, I would like to take the initiative to start one, with your help.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this project and how to take it forward.

Waiting with bated breath! :)

Hannah, India.
